Personalising Content to Your Learner
By
28 May 2019Learners have preferential learning styles. While some prefer visuals, others respond better to aural, verbal, kinesthetics or logical learning. There are those who like social learning or learning with peers, while others prefer solitary learning. No two learning styles are alike, and no two learners are the same, either.
Personalising your e-learning content makes it immersive, meaningful and increases learner engagement and retention. Here are two tips for personalising your e-learning:
1. Customise e-learning at the basic level
Conduct a pre-module test to find out the current level of knowledge of the learners. Create an e-learning module where a different learning path must be taken for different types of learners. For example, levels within a module can be skipped by advanced learners, while those who need basic training would be required to complete the entire module.
2. Have something for everyone
Within an e-learning training module, incorporate a variety of learning styles. For example, in an e-learning module, a link to a video would be advantageous for visual learners, while a link to additional information could be useful to a logical learner. Make use of audio clips as well as different levels of interactivity.
